No Birthday Left Behind

No Birthday Left Behind

I've had the pleasure of working on Birthday Direct's blog for almost two years, and in that time I've learned a lot about the party planning process and the actual WORK that goes into planning and executing an event. It seems that even with a working budget and effective time management, planning a party while dealing with life's everyday responsibilities is asking for extra stress.

Yet, when the passing of time brings birthdays, graduations, and holidays, planners commit to organizing events out of love, because the payoff is unlike any feeling in the world.

No Birthday Left Behind

Parties create opportunities for us to show that we care for the people in our lives, for family members and friends to reconnect, and for new friendships to begin. Helping facilitate those moments is at the heart of Birthday Direct, and we've recently been given the chance to team up with a special young woman whose mission is to ensure that every child experience the joy of a birthday celebration.

Tanvi Barman is a high school student from California who founded No Birthday Left Behind, a nonprofit organization that works with homeless shelters and vendors to throw birthday parties for homeless children. Barman says that she got the idea when volunteering at a homeless shelter with her family. Barman's website reads, "It hit her that the pleasures in life she takes for granted — like birthday parties — may be unavailable to homeless children." She founded No Birthday Left Behind in 2016 and has been working with numerous shelters and vendors in the Bay Area since.

Birthday Direct was unaware of Barman and No Birthday Left Behind before being contacted by ABC's Good Morning America 3: "Strahan, Sara, and Keke", who were working on a segment about Barman. They, like us, were inspired by her acts and informed us that Barman relies on help from family, volunteers, and donations to keep No Birthday Left Behind going, and we feel fortunate to aid in her mission.

We'll be donating $10,000 worth of products and gift cards to No Birthday Left Behind in the hopes that Barman can use our contribution to continue her admirable and selfless endeavor. Follow us on social media and stay tuned for clips of GMA3's segment on Barman and No Birthday Left Behind, which is set to air Wednesday, October 16th, 2019!
